Description:
Vaughan Williams' London Symphony, Rare Piano Arrangements! Piano joint version of Vaughan Williams and his related composers! The charm of Vaughan Williams can be felt anew! Albion Records, an independent label of the Vaughan Williams Society, has been featuring unknown, buried, and unpublished works by Leif Vaughan Williams. This album features works by composers with whom Vaughan Williams is closely associated, as well as rare arrangements of his own works for piano or piano and organ. These three pieces are world premiere recordings. The "London Symphony" was Vaughan Williams' second symphony, first completed in 1913 and revised many times before the final version in 1936. Archibald Jacob's arrangement (published in 1924) of the "London Symphony" has been transformed into a rare piano version, and we are surprised to discover sounds that we would not notice if we were listening to the regular orchestral version, reminding us of the greatness of this famous piece. After graduating from Cambridge University, Lynn Arnold studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received high acclaim in numerous competitions. Her commitment is focused on British music, and she currently teaches chamber music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatory of Music. Charles Matthews studied at the Royal College of Music and was an Organ Scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge University, and in 1999 won the first prize at the Franz Liszt Memorial Competition in Budapest. He has worked extensively with young artists and is an accompanist pianist at the Royal Birmingham Conservatory of Music, where he also teaches organ. Tokyo M-Plus
